Most of the walk in showers we fit replace a bath that has become awkward to step over. The finished room should not look like a hospital, and it does not have to. Level thresholds, discreet rails and a modern tiled finish all sit together comfortably when they are designed in from the start.
Three ways we build a walk in shower
- Low profile tray and fixed panel. Fastest and most economical, with a shallow 25mm to 40mm step.
- Tiled former with a low threshold. A shower former set into the floor and tiled over, so the finish is continuous with only a slight upstand.
- Full level access. Zero step, tanked wet zone and a linear drain, suitable for a shower chair or a walking frame.
What we check before quoting
- Joist direction and depth, or whether the floor is solid concrete.
- Where the existing waste sits and how far it can sensibly move.
- Water pressure and flow at the tap, measured rather than guessed.
- Door swing and turning space, particularly for anyone using a frame.
- Whether extraction meets current requirements.
Fittings that make daily use easier
- Thermostatic valve with a temperature stop, so the water cannot run scalding.
- Riser rail plus a fixed head, so the shower works seated or standing.
- Fold down seat fixed into a reinforced wall, not into plasterboard.
- Slip resistant floor tile with an appropriate rating for a wet area.
- Lever taps and a comfort height toilet where they are wanted.

Common questions
Can you replace my bath with a walk in shower?
Yes, that is the most common job we do. The bath comes out, the waste is reused or moved a short distance, and the area is tanked and tiled or fitted with a low profile tray, usually inside a week.
How much does a walk in shower cost in Stoke-on-Trent?

Do you fit grab rails and seats at the same time?
