An easy access bathroom is not a product you buy, it is a set of decisions about heights, reach and transfers. Get those right and the room stays usable for years without needing to be changed again.
The four transfer points we design around
- Entering the room. Door width, swing direction and whether the door should open outward or slide.
- Getting into the shower. Step height, rail position and whether a seat is needed now or later.
- Using the toilet. Pan height, side clearance and a rail on the stronger side.
- Reaching the basin. Height, whether there is knee space beneath, and lever or sensor taps.
Specification that quietly does the work
- Comfort height pan, typically 450mm to 480mm to the seat.
- Thermostatic shower with a maximum temperature stop.
- Lever taps or single lever mixers throughout.
- Slip resistant floor tiles rather than polished porcelain.
- Contrasting tones between floor, wall and sanitaryware, which helps anyone with reduced vision.
- Brighter, evenly spread lighting with no dark corner at the shower.
Planning for later, not just for now
Even where rails are not needed yet, we fit noggins or reinforced boarding behind the tiling at the likely positions. It costs very little during the fit and means a rail can be added in an hour later on rather than becoming another tiling job.

- The toilet is back in use most evenings, and we tell you in advance about the days it will not be.

Common questions
What makes a bathroom easy access?
Four things in practice: getting into the shower without a high step, getting on and off the toilet comfortably, something solid to hold at each transfer point, and a floor that does not become slippery when wet.
Can you adapt a bathroom for someone coming out of hospital?
Yes, and we understand these jobs are often urgent. Tell us the discharge date at the survey and we will be straight about whether we can meet it rather than promise and slip.
Is a comfort height toilet noticeably different?
Yes. Around 60mm to 80mm extra pan height takes a surprising amount of strain out of standing up, and it makes very little visual difference to the room.
Do you have to remove the bath?
Not always. Where someone still bathes safely we can fit a bath with a low side and a grab rail, or install a walk in bath. Where transfers are the problem, a level access shower is usually the better answer.
Will the room look clinical?
No. Modern rails come in brushed and matt finishes, seats fold flat, and the shower can be tiled in exactly the same porcelain as any other bathroom we fit.
