The fear people describe to us is always the same one: a stripped out bathroom, three trades who will not commit to a date, and each of them blaming the last. It is worth understanding the sequence, because that is where the risk lives.
The six skills a bathroom needs
- Plumbing. Isolation, strip out, waste and supply first fix, then second fix of the suite, valves and screens.
- Electrics. Fan, lighting, shaver point, any shower circuit, bonding, testing and certification.
- Tiling. Substrate preparation, tanking, setting out, cutting, fixing and grouting.
- Joinery. Floor repairs, boxing, bath frames, boarding and any furniture scribing.
- Plastering. Making good ceilings and any untiled wall areas after the chasing.
- Decorating. The final coat that decides whether the room looks finished or nearly finished.
The handover points where jobs stall
- First fix to tiling. Tiling cannot begin until every pipe and cable is set and the boarding is complete.
- Tiling to second fix. Grout must cure before the suite goes back or the seals fail early.
- Second fix to electrical test. The certificate cannot be issued until every accessory is installed.
- Test to decorating. Any chasing patch has to dry before paint.
Each of those four points is a date that has to be booked. With separate trades, four dates means four diaries, and one slipped diary moves everything behind it.
How we run it instead
We are one team. Our own fitters carry the plumbing, tiling and electrics, so the sequence above is a single continuous programme rather than four bookings. There are no waiting days between trades, and there is nobody to point at if something is not right, which is precisely the point.
- One point of contact from survey through to handover.
- One fixed price covering the whole job, not five separate invoices.
- One written workmanship guarantee across everything we installed.
- Fully insured, 5 star rated, over 25 years working across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
Questions worth asking any fitter
- Who exactly will be in my house, and on which days?
- Is the electrical work done in house and certified by you?
- Who is responsible if the tiling is fine but the shower leaks?
- What happens to the programme if a delivery is late?

We will walk the room, set out the sequence with real dates and put a fixed price in writing, usually within 24 hours of the visit.
Common questions
How many trades does a bathroom actually need?
Six skills in total: plumbing, electrics, tiling, joinery, plastering and decorating. That does not have to mean six separate people, and on our jobs it does not.
Do you use subcontractors?
No. Plumbing, tiling and electrics are handled in house by our own fitters, which is why there is one point of contact and one workmanship guarantee covering the whole job.
What normally causes a half finished bathroom?
A gap between trades. The tiler cannot start until first fix is complete and signed off, so if the plumber is on another job the whole programme slips and each trade blames the other.
Who signs off the electrical work?
The electrical work is certified as part of the job, and where notifiable work is involved it is notified to building control. You receive the paperwork at handover.
Will one person be in my house each day?
Usually one or two of our fitters, and the same faces throughout. You will always know who is coming and roughly when.
What if something goes wrong after handover?
You call us and we come back. There is no argument about whose fault it is, because we did all of it and it is covered by our written guarantee.
