Most families stay put throughout a bathroom refit. The disruption is real but it is short and predictable, and the difference between a stressful week and an easy one is almost entirely down to planning.
The three questions everyone asks
1. Toilet access
If the house has a second WC or a downstairs cloakroom, this is a non issue. If the bathroom holds the only toilet, we sequence the work so the pan is reconnected overnight where the waste allows, and we tell you at survey exactly which days that is not possible.
2. Washing
Expect a handful of days with no shower, usually while tiling and sealing cure. Plan those days around a relative, a neighbour or a local gym. We will give you the dates in advance rather than on the morning.
3. Water and heating
Mains water is isolated only for short spells. If the bathroom radiator or towel rail is on the main heating loop, the system may be drained briefly, which we schedule for a mild day where we can.
Dust, noise and mess
- The route from the front door to the bathroom is sheeted and protected.
- Doorways are sealed during strip out and tile removal.
- Cutting is done outside or with extraction wherever practical.
- The site is tidied and hoovered at the end of every day.
- Waste is removed rather than stacked in your garden.
Households that need extra thought
- Young children: a temporary night time toilet arrangement is worth agreeing in advance.
- Shift workers: tell us and we will front load the noisy stages.
- Reduced mobility: we can stage the work so the existing facilities stay usable as long as possible, which is standard on our level access shower jobs.
- Pets: tools and open waste pipes mean the bathroom door stays shut, so plan a safe room.

Common questions
Will I be without a toilet?
Rarely for long. If yours is the only WC we plan the work so the toilet is refitted or temporarily reconnected at the end of each day wherever the plumbing allows.
Will the water be off all week?
No. The water is only isolated for short periods during first and second fix, and we tell you in advance so you can fill a kettle and jugs.
How bad is the dust?
Strip out and tile removal are the dusty stages. We sheet the route in, seal the doorway, use dust extraction on cutting and clean down every day.
What about washing?
Most clients use a neighbour or family member for showers during the tiling stage, or a downstairs cloakroom if there is one. We confirm the exact days at survey.
What hours do you work?
Normal working hours, typically 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and we agree access arrangements with you before we start.
